Not financial, investment, insurance, tax or legal advice

Nothing on FinSage — including the primers in Learn, the in-depth articles, the explanations in the Insurance Hub, the numbers on Live Markets, or the results from any calculator — is personalised financial, investment, insurance, tax or legal advice. It is general information intended to help you understand common concepts and run your own numbers.

The site is written by pasindu.nbuss, a software engineer. He is not a licensed financial adviser, investment adviser, insurance adviser, accountant, attorney or financial planner, holds no professional licence in those fields, and provides no advisory service. Reading this site does not create any advisory, fiduciary or professional relationship.

Everyone's situation is different

Rules of thumb such as “10–15× income” for life cover, “50/30/20” for budgeting, “3–6 months” for an emergency fund, or the “4% rule” for retirement withdrawals are starting points for thinking — not recommendations. Most originate in research on one country during one historical period. Your right answer depends on your income, dependants, debts, health, employment, country, tax position and goals, none of which this site knows.

Country and jurisdiction

Financial products, taxation, credit reporting, consumer protection and insurance regulation differ substantially between countries. Pages whose content depends on one country's rules carry a scope badge saying so, but this site does not give jurisdiction-specific legal, tax or regulatory guidance for anywhere, and nothing here should be relied on as a statement of the law where you live.

Calculators are estimates

The calculators apply standard formulas to the numbers you enter, under assumptions printed on each page — contribution timing, compounding frequency, and the fact that fees, taxes and inflation are generally excluded. They do not know your credit profile, tax situation, employer benefits, or the terms a lender or insurer would actually offer you. Real quotes will differ, sometimes substantially. Outputs are illustrations, not quotes, offers, approvals or guarantees.

Live data can be delayed, wrong, or missing

Crypto, gold and currency figures come from third-party public APIs and are cached — typically about 90 seconds for crypto and up to 6 hours for exchange rates — rather than updated on every request. Prices move between updates, providers have outages, and data can be incomplete or incorrect.

Gold is shown as PAX Gold (PAXG), a tokenised gold proxy — not spot gold. PAXG is a crypto token whose issuer states it is backed by one fine troy ounce of gold. It trades on crypto exchanges, so its price can differ from the XAU/USD spot price and it carries issuer and custody risks bullion does not. It must not be read as an official gold benchmark. See how to verify live market data.

Never use this site as your sole — or primary — source for an actual trade, transfer or purchase.

Past performance and forward-looking figures

Historical returns do not predict future returns. Any projection on this site is arithmetic applied to assumptions you or we have chosen, not a forecast, and real markets deliver their averages through long stretches of loss. Investments can fall in value and you can get back less than you put in.

No endorsement of third parties

External links — to regulators, central banks, researchers, data providers and, in future, advertisers — are provided so you can verify claims or read further. They are not endorsements of any organisation or product, and we are not responsible for their content or practices. FinSage does not rank or recommend specific financial products.

Advertising

No advertising currently runs on this site. If it is introduced, advertisements will be clearly distinguishable from editorial content and will not influence what is published. An advertisement is never a recommendation by FinSage. See the editorial policy.

Errors and corrections

Care is taken with every figure, and mistakes still happen. If you find one, please report it — the corrections process explains how, and material corrections are disclosed on the page. No warranty of accuracy or completeness is given.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the site owner accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its content. Your financial decisions are yours. See the terms of service for the full position.

Talk to a professional

Before any meaningful financial or insurance decision, speak to a licensed financial adviser, insurance professional, accountant or lawyer who can see your whole picture and is regulated in your country. Use FinSage to walk into that conversation better informed — not as a replacement for it.
