About FinSage
An independent, free personal-finance site built around one idea: if you can see the arithmetic, you can make your own decisions.
What FinSage does
FinSage explains money concepts and does the maths in public. It has three parts:
- Calculators — loan and EMI, investment growth, retirement planning and a budget split. Each shows its formula, its assumptions and what it excludes, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
- Guides and articles — long-form explanations that work through examples step by step, state their limitations, and cite primary sources such as regulators, central banks and original research.
- Live market data — crypto, a tokenised gold proxy and exchange rates for 35+ currencies, pulled from public APIs and labelled honestly, including where the data falls short.
Who it is for
People who want to understand a number rather than be told one: someone comparing two loan terms, working out whether their retirement saving is anywhere near enough, deciding between term and whole life cover, or simply trying to see where their money goes. No prior finance knowledge is assumed and nothing here requires an account, an email address or a payment.
FinSage is read internationally. The arithmetic is universal, but rules are not — so any page whose content depends on one country's law, tax code or products carries a scope badge saying which country it describes. Where a topic differs materially between markets, the page says so instead of pretending otherwise.
Who runs it
That background is the reason this site looks the way it does. An engineer's instinct is to show the working, name the assumptions and say when a model breaks — which is exactly what most personal-finance content leaves out. It is also the reason for the limits below.
What FinSage is not
- Not a broker, lender, insurer or product seller. Nothing here can be bought.
- Not a trading signal service. The market page is context, not a recommendation, and the data it shows is cached and approximate by design.
- Not a data vendor. Prices come from free public APIs, may be delayed or briefly wrong, and should never be the basis of a trade.
Editorial principles
- Show the working. Every number a page asserts should be reproducible — from a formula printed on the page, or from a cited source.
- Prefer primary sources. Regulators, central banks, tax authorities, statistical agencies, index providers and original research, ahead of secondary commentary.
- State the assumptions and the limits. A projection without its assumptions is a guess with decimal places.
- Say which country. Rules that apply in one place are labelled, not universalised.
- Correct mistakes openly rather than editing them away quietly.
- Never fabricate. No invented statistics, no made-up citations, no fictional testimonials, reviews or credentials — including in the author information on this page.
The full version, including how corrections and updates are handled, is in the editorial policy.
Independence and how the site is funded
FinSage is independent. It has no sponsors, no affiliate links, no paid placements, no sponsored posts, and no commercial relationship with any bank, broker, insurer, fund provider or data vendor mentioned on the site. No third party reviews or approves the content before publication.
The intention is to fund hosting through display advertising in future. At the time of writing, no advertising is running on this site and no advertising account has been approved — which is why you will not see any ad units or empty ad placeholders anywhere. If and when advertising is introduced, it will be clearly distinguishable from editorial content, it will not influence what is written, and the privacy policy will be updated to describe exactly what it does before it goes live. Should any commercial relationship ever exist, it will be disclosed on the page where it applies.

Corrections are genuinely welcome — if a number here is wrong, it should be fixed, and the corrections process explains how that works. Email pasindu.nbuss@gmail.com or use the contact page.
